Synopsis: Intent Deadly is another intriguing plot in this series, which keeps hooked till the last page and the writer presented the story in a simple language. This time Nancy Drew, the Young Detective her continuous thrive for Mystery case goes to NewYork for Solving the Missing Case. This story also has Bess, George, and Alan (Bess boyfriend) and Bend Fender music group. This Plot continue from where the previous plot end, it answer some of the unanswered question in the secret can kill like how Alan’s addition will play role in the Nancy, George, Bess’s Friendship? What happens to the Nancy and Ned relationship after Daryl encounter?.
Plot summary: Nancy Drew father Carson Drew has a close friendship with Roger’s Father, so through his contact, Nancy and her friends has an opportunity to meet the bend fender music group, one of the top charted music group in the New York City.
Nancy, to get over Drayl and also want a break from the hectic job, which involves round the clock work, so she decided to attend the music concert of Bend Fender Music Group, New York city and also get autograph from them in the backstage. Alan is small time guitarist, awaiting for a big break in his career, jumped into the trip along with Nancy and her friends, so to get the international exposure. On reaching the music concert stadium filled with people, Nancy along with her friend’s are blocked by guard in the backstage, as it is regular for the fans to go frenzy mode touch their dream stars. Nancy informs about her dad’s contact with the Roger, it is only after the acceptance from the Roger, they are allowed to get into the backstage and they are very happy to meet the Bend Fender group. Roger introduced Nancy Drew as the young detective from River Height, famous for her skills in solving in mystery. Barton, the lead singer is disturbed recently and wants to have a private conversation with Nancy after the music concert regarding the royalty rights. Bend fender leave Nancy and her friends in the green room goes to stadium, after 10 min Roger appeared in door and his face express completely terrorize with confusion, and revealed Barton is missing. Barton has disappearance is not a new to his member, he has already done it and his friends believe it just a gimmick, for increasing the publicity of Barton. Roger has no time to search for Barton, insisted Alan would be perfect replacement for Barton, as Alan is completely aware of the Bend Fender music album. Without much delay, Alan accepted the Roger proposal and get ready for the concert, which is about to start. Nancy uses her detective skill start questioning the guard about the trespassing of any stranger. Guard give the description about two stranger, who carried heavy music instruments to the backstage. Nancy puzzled with guard reply start searching the green room, where she find the wallet with the picture of dragon ends with the letter “L” has full of money, immediately sensed she is not alone. She went to unconscious, when she receive a huge blow in the head.
When she got up from the bed in the River Height home, she is surrounded by her friends preparing her break fast. She really want to go back the stadium and continue her investigation about the last night incident. But her friends insisted her to eat first ,as she still feel dizzy after receiving heavy blow in the head. Carson Drew make an meeting with Bend fender’s Agent (who travel’s a lot), so Nancy might more information about the missing ‘Barton’ case. From the meeting with Agent, Nancy got list of World Communication Center Company people, who handles Bend Fender music group. This lead Nancy to meet the Company Head Marshall, Secretary Vivan stopped Nancy from entering the Marshall room, But Nancy entered into room ,displayed a rude behavior towards Nancy. Marshall insist everything is publicity gimmick, this will make the fans to crazy in getting clue of his disappearance, which lead to increase in the sales of the music company. Nancy so confused is really Barton disappearance is a publicity gimmick, Barton done this previously two occasion, as there is no ransom involved and ? Or it is a kidnapping case?
My take on this:
Compared to previous story, Intent Deadly is completely darker as it deal with betrayal, Love, Friendship, Crime, and Action.
• Nancy’s character is explored a lot in this plot, whether she truly deserve Ned (really wants to spend time with Nancy) but Nancy is very busy with solving mysteries has no time for Ned.
• Her friendship with Bess is put for testing, and she struggle to get her back. Bess, George and Nancy are childhood friends, whatsoever their relation remains same. But in the case of Alan involvement in their friendship, put them in real deal.
• She also want to find match for his father, after her mom dead, his only relation is Nancy. Carson Drew is also successful lawyer, always worry about her daughter’s work.
• Alan also want to reconcile with Bess, and get over his guilty conscious of lying. He also wants to achieve great career in the music industry.
• Ned being a lover of Nancy, really want to spend time with her. He help her in the investigation both physically and mentally. Ned is always there for Nancy like her mom gives an important suggestion in the case.
